The Dollmaker

Harriette Simpson Arnow was an author and historian who lived in and wrote about Kentucky and Southeast Michigan. Her most famous novel, The Dollmaker, describes a family’s move from rural Appalachia to Michigan to work in the defense industry during World War II. This course will introduce participants to Arnow’s life and work.
About the Presenter: Meghan is a librarian at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library (though her official title is outreach manager, Adult Services). She previously worked at the Lorenzo Cultural Center and was a key member of the staff that founded the original SOAR program. She has a special interest in Michigan authors and is a valuable continuing contributor to MORE.
